Drug-Free Relief for Insomnia, Anxiety, and Depression

Fisher Wallace Stimulator Device with Sponge

What is Fisher Wallace Stimulator?

Fisher Wallace Stimulator is marketed as a device to treat insomnia, anxiety, and depression. The device is scientifically proven to treat these and recommended by more than 20,000 doctors.

This device has existed for more than a decade, and there is no known side effect of using this device for the long term.

US consumers will require health care provider prescription/authorization to purchase this device, however, Fisher Wallace website facilitates the prescription.

Non-US consumers (like me) can buy this device directly without any prescription.

The best thing is, you can return this device within 30 days if you are unsatisfied with the result. If you have not been successful with drug therapy for any of these problems, you can consider this drug-free device. It is a cheaper investment in the long term.

How to use Fisher Wallace Stimulator?

The device operates with 2x AA batteries. Fisher Wallace recommends to use level 2 as a start for 2 weeks to see if there is any improvement. If there isn't, you can increase the power to level 3, and subsequently level 4 after a week.

Most people use the device for 2 sessions: morning and evening. It is recommended to set 6 hours apart after each session for it to be effective. There is no added benefit of using it in less than 6 hours after a session. This means the maximum number of sessions in a day is 3 sessions—6 hours apart. When you feel that the symptoms have subsided, you can use the device once a day for maintenance.

Fisher Wallace Stimulator sponges can last for a month, but it is recommended to replace the sponge after 2 weeks. They do sell the replacement sponge. You can buy a cheaper sponge from Amazon too.
When I first received Mendi, I used the device to measure the focus level of my current meditation practice. I did not use the Mendi game just so I can have an accurate measurement of my baseline without any influence from Mendi’s improvement (if any).

To have a fair comparison, I do these at the same place and time every day for a week. Afterward, I switch to use Mendi’s game for a week, too. Here’s the result.
Fisher Wallace Stimulator Compressed SpongeEven though the device delivers electric currents to your brain, you can safely use this even if you are wearing a metal dental brace.

How it compares with tDCS devices

Fisher Wallace stimulator uses CES (Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation) and developed specifically with its patented waveform to treat Insomnia, Anxiety, and Depression. There is no direct research on its use for learning.

tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation), on the other hand, is meant to stimulate different brain regions to increase its plasticity. Please be informed, however, that the use of tDCS devices is NOT regulated by the FDA. They are entirely 2 different products, for different purposes.

My experience

I have been using this device for more than two years now. I get the sensation of flashing light at the corner of my eyes during the session. According to Fisher Wallace, this is a normal reaction. The zapping feeling from the sponge is not painful at all, but you can definitely feel the zap. The feeling that I can describe after using it for some time is that the fogginess of the brain is reduced—that similar feeling that you get from meditation. It seems that the by-product of this eases anxiety or depression. I am still using it twice daily, and have no plan to stop using it.
Pros
Easy to use
Effective anxiety reduction
Cons
Require regular maintenance of the electrode receptacle
The Bottom Line
